TRIP OVERVIEW:

Embark on an unforgettable one-day escape into Sri Lanka’s rugged hill country with Wild Descent, a challenging and deeply rewarding combination of high-altitude trekking and waterfall abseiling. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Devil’s Staircase trail and Lanka Ella Falls, this curated adventure offers adrenaline, stunning scenery, and expert support from start to finish.

Itinerary:

04:00 AM – Pick-up from Colombo
Begin the day early with private group transport to the trailhead, approximately 5–6 hours away, through scenic highland roads.

10:00 AM – Arrival & Safety Briefing
Upon arrival, meet your professional adventure team, made up of former Sri Lankan Air Force Special Forces operatives. Gear up, go through a full safety briefing, and warm up before the trek.

10:30 AM – Begin the Devil’s Staircase Trek (Approx. 14 km)
Take on the challenging ascent along the Devil’s Staircase, a notorious highland trail known for its steep switchbacks, rocky inclines, and dramatic views. As you climb, pass tea estates, mist-covered ridgelines, and native forest.
Duration: Approximately 3–4 hours (depending on group pace)
Terrain: Rocky, steep inclines, remote trail sections
Highlights: Tea plantations, panoramic highland views, wild cloud forest

02:00 PM – Lunch Break in the Highlands
Replenish your energy with a hearty packed lunch in a scenic clearing along the trail.

03:00 PM – Abseiling Experience at Lanka Ella Waterfall
Prepare to descend the stunning Lanka Ella Falls under the supervision of certified guides. Standing tall and surrounded by untouched forest, this waterfall offers both a technical challenge and a surreal natural setting.
Abseil Height: Approximately 30–40 meters
Equipment: All safety harnesses, ropes, helmets, and gloves provided
Environment: Shaded jungle gorge with a crystal-clear plunge pool (optional dip)

04:30 PM – Wrap-Up & Refreshments

After your descent, unwind by the waterfall with light refreshments and a short debrief.

05:00 PM – Return Journey to Colombo

Relax in the comfort of private transport as we take you back to Colombo, arriving around 10:00 PM.

Participant Requirements

This trip is designed for physically fit individuals with prior hiking or climbing experience. Due to the steep terrain and remote location, it is not recommended for beginners or those with medical conditions that may impair physical activity.

Participants should be able to:

Hike continuously for 3–4 hours on rugged terrain

Handle steep descents and heights during abseiling

Follow technical safety instructions
