THE EXPERIENCE
Pre-Adventure Training
The day before the expedition, participants will take part in an abseil and safety training session. Here you’ll learn and practice rope handling, descending techniques, and safety procedures to prepare for the canyon’s extreme terrain.
The Descent into Wadi Halfeen
- Early Start: Depart from Muscat in the morning and head toward the rugged Hajar Mountains. After a short trek into the canyon, gear up and prepare for the first descent.
- Progressive Abseils: The adventure begins with shorter abseils of 25–40 meters, building confidence before tackling the higher drops.
- The Giants: Midway through the canyon, the walls rise dramatically, leading to a series of enormous abseils, including the unforgettable 120-meter waterfall descent—a free-hanging rappel that will leave you in awe.
- Water & Rock: Many abseils descend alongside flowing waterfalls, where mist and spray add both challenge and exhilaration. Between rappels, scramble over boulders, wade through pools, and navigate narrow slots carved by centuries of rushing water.
- Final Exit: After hours of intense adventure, the canyon gradually opens up, leading you back toward the open wadi. The sense of achievement is overwhelming—few have experienced Wadi Halfeen from within, and fewer still have completed its full descent.
