Venture deep into the remote highlands of the Hajar Mountains for a full-day expedition that blends high-altitude trekking with technical caving. The Tahri Cave Exploration Adventure is a rare opportunity to explore one of Oman’s least-trodden, geologically significant cave systems—accessible only by those willing to trek, climb, crawl, and conquer.
This experience is ideal for adventurers looking to combine rugged physical activity with surreal natural beauty. Navigate steep switchbacks, harness up for rope-assisted sections, and descend into a network of natural limestone galleries—ending in the awe-inspiring Crystal Hall, a chamber adorned with sparkling mineral formations.
Itinerary Breakdown
05:30 AM – Departure from Muscat
Meet your guides and fellow adventurers. Depart in 4x4s equipped for mountain terrain. Coffee & snacks served onboard.
07:45 AM – Arrival at Trailhead (Approx. 1,800m Elevation)
Briefing by lead guide. Gear check and safety instructions before descent begins.
08:15 AM – Mountain Descent to Cave Entrance (4 km | ~2 Hours)
- Trail is steep, rocky, and occasionally exposed—technical hiking required
- Sweeping mountain views and photo stops en route
- Final approach includes a scramble to the massive cave opening carved into a vertical face
10:15 AM – Cave Exploration Phase (~3 Hours Underground)
- Stage 1: Enter large cavernous chamber and rope-assisted descent
- Stage 2: Traverse tight squeezes, boulders, and rope climbs
- Stage 3: Navigate via headlamp toward Crystal Hall
- Natural “cathedral” with glistening calcite and gypsum crystals
- Geology briefing by guide inside the hall
Note: Cave interior is cool and slightly humid. Air quality is monitored.
1:30 PM – Exit Cave & Begin Ascent (~2 Hours)
- Return via same hiking route
- Water and snack break during ascent
3:30 PM – Post-Adventure Lunch at Base Camp
- Traditional Omani meal served picnic-style
- Relax and recap the experience with your group
4:30 PM – Departure to Muscat
6:30–7:00 PM – Return to City
Drop-off at your hotel acoomodation.

· Lead and assistant adventure guides (Wilderness First Aid certified)
· Professional caving equipment: harnesses, helmets, carabiners, rope)

What You Need to Bring
- Footwear: Durable hiking shoes with good grip
- Apparel: Quick-dry trekking clothes, long-sleeve layers, gloves (for rope work)
- Hydration: Minimum 2L of water (hydration pack or bottles)
- Headlamp: Required—high-lumen preferred
- Backpack: Lightweight with waist strap
- Optional: Face mask (dust), GoPro/Action cam, electrolytes
