Join us on a once-in-a-lifetime kayaking expedition along the majestic Mahaweli River—Sri Lanka’s longest and most iconic waterway.
This immersive journey blends adventure, nature, and camaraderie as you paddle through national parks, remote jungles, and untouched riverbanks. It’s a 6-day expedition divided into two parts—each offering its own blend of adrenaline, serenity, and soul-stirring beauty.
Whether you’re navigating through Wasgamuwa and Somawathiya National Parks, camping under the stars, or paddling into the open waters near Trincomalee, this is a powerful way to reconnect with the wild and challenge yourself—physically and mentally.
Led by a highly experienced team of Ex-Air Force Special Forces, including a combat medic, physiotherapist, and survival experts, this expedition ensures both safety and excellence throughout.
Expedition Routes
- Option 1: Mahiyanganaya to Manampitiya (3 Days / 2 Nights)
Paddle through Wasgamuwa National Park, encountering lush woodlands, wildlife sightings, and secluded campgrounds. - Option 2: Manampitiya to Trincomalee (3 Days / 2 Nights)
Enter the eastern lowlands, crossing Somawathiya National Park and into the tranquil lagoons near Trincomalee.
You may join either leg of the expedition, or opt for all six days for the full experience.

Day 1
- 5:00 AM – Depart from Kandy to Mahiyanganaya (Nippon Bridge)
- 8:00 AM – Begin kayaking through peaceful jungle-lined stretches to Wasgamuwa National Park
- 2:00 PM – Arrive at campsite near Water Board Pump House, enjoy packed lunch
- 6:00 PM – Evening debrief and plan for the next day
- 7:00 PM – Dinner and campfire by the river
- 9:00 PM – Lights out under the stars
Day 2
- 7:00 AM – Wake up and breakfast
- 7:30 AM – Stretching session
- 8:00 AM – Paddle toward Yakkure through wildlife-rich waters
- 2:00 PM – Arrive at Yakkure bund, set up camp and enjoy riverside lunch
- 6:00 PM – Debrief and next day prep
- 7:00 PM – Dinner and fireside bonding
- 9:00 PM – Overnight at riverside camp
Day 3
- 7:00 AM – Breakfast and gear check
- 7:30 AM – Light stretching and morning paddle to Manampitiya Bridge
- 11:00 AM – Arrive at Manampitiya, expedition complete
- 1:00 PM – Lunch in Kaduruwela town
- 4:00 PM – Return to Kandy

Day 1
- 5:00 AM – Travel from Kandy to Manampitiya
- 8:30 AM – After breakfast, begin paddling into Somawathiya National Park
- 2:00 PM – Reach campsite near Somawathiya Bridge, lunch and relax
- 6:00 PM – Briefing session
- 7:00 PM – Dinner and fireside hangout
- 9:00 PM – Lights out
Day 2
- 7:00 AM – Morning routine: breakfast and stretching
- 8:00 AM – Paddle through wide river bends to Alla (Kantale Road)
- 2:00 PM – Lunch at Alla campsite, set up for the night
- 6:00 PM – Debrief and trip overview
- 7:00 PM – Dinner and camp activities
- 9:00 PM – Rest
Day 3
- 7:00 AM – Breakfast and final paddle prep
- 8:00 AM – Begin the last stretch through eastern lowlands toward Trincomalee
- 3:00 PM – Arrive at Muthur (Trinco region), conclude expedition
- 5:00 PM – Final lunch and celebration
- 10:00 PM – Arrival back in Kandy
What to Bring
Pack lightweight outdoor trousers and long-sleeve shirts (2 each)
Swimsuit or river-appropriate clothing
Personal toiletries with a toweL
Bring a wide-brim hat and sunglasses for sun protection
Head torch and insect repellent—both mandatory.
Closed-toe hiking shoes, sandals or slippers, and optional items such as a hiking pole and sunscreen are also advised.
Carry 3 liters of water per day in bottles or a camelback, and energy-boosting snacks like chocolates. Electrolites sachets are highly recommended.
All sleeping gear will be provided.
Recommended Attire and Tips
Wear light-colored, breathable clothing for sun and humidity.
Footwear must be well broken in to avoid blisters.
In humid conditions, wearing cycling shorts or tights beneath your pants can help reduce chafing.
A cap or hat is recommended for sun protection, and don’t forget your sunglasses and sunscreen.
