Day 1
- At 8:00 AM, we depart from Kandy and drive toward the picturesque village of Ududumbara. Upon arrival around 10:00 AM, we prepare to begin our hike.
- By 11:00 AM, we’ll head into the forest, trekking through a mix of open terrain and shaded jungle paths.
- Around 1:00 PM, we pause for a relaxed outdoor lunch along the way.
- Shortly after, we continue the hike to reach the peak and the Gerandigala Ella infinity pool, taking in stunning views and the peaceful rhythm of the falls.
- At 3:00 PM, we begin the return hike, arriving back at our base in Kalugala around 6:00 PM.
- The evening is spent at a cozy campsite known as Banda Mama’s Place, where we enjoy a nourishing local dinner and time around the campfire before settling in for the night at 10:00 PM.
Day 2
- We rise with the forest at 8:00 AM and begin the day with a local prepared breakfast.
- At 9:00 AM, we take a light morning hike down to the river for a refreshing bath and a final moment of connection with nature.
- At 11:00 AM, we pack up and begin the return drive to Kandy, closing the trip with a mind full of memories and a body well exercised.
What to Bring
- Pack two pairs of lightweight outdoor trousers and two breathable long-sleeve shirts.
- Bring swimwear or comfortable clothing for bathing in natural water, along with a towel and your personal toiletries.
- A hat and sunglasses are recommended for sun protection, and hiking shoes with good grip are essential.
- Footwear should be wear prior to the trip to avoid discomfort.
- You’ll need a head torch and insect repellent, both of which are mandatory.
- Optional items include a hiking pole, sunscreen, and any medications you may need.
- Bring at least three liters of water, along with energy-boosting snacks like chocolate or granola bars. Electrolites are also encouraged.
Clothing Recommendations and Practical Tips
Wear breathable, light-colored clothing to stay cool and comfortable in warm, humid conditions. A cap or hat will help protect you from direct sun exposure.
To prevent chafing, especially during long hikes, we recommend wearing cycling shorts or tights underneath your hiking clothes.
Good quality hiking shoes are a must.
A pair of slippers or sandals is useful for the evening at camp.
