This course combines hands-on instruction, safety fundamentals, and real cliffside practice so you leave with the skills, confidence, and thrill of abseiling like a pro.
Course Overview
Morning – Training & Safety Foundations
- Introduction to abseiling gear: harness, helmet, ropes, carabiners, belay devices, and safety equipment
- Fitting and proper use of equipment
- Knot tying for abseiling (figure-eight, double fisherman’s, stopper knots)
- Understanding anchor systems and rope setup
- Body positioning, friction control, and communication signals
- Safety checks and common mistake prevention
Midday – Ground-Based Practice
- Low-level rope descents to build muscle memory
- Controlled start and landing techniques
- Learning self-recovery if stuck mid-descent
- Using a prusik or backup safety system
Afternoon – Real Cliffside Abseil
Once you’ve mastered the basics, we’ll head to a scenic natural cliff site where you’ll perform multiple descents with full instructor supervision. This is your chance to experience the adrenaline of abseiling down real rock faces while surrounded by Oman’s breathtaking landscapes.
